Panuku's plan to regenerate Pukekohe

Pukekohe is already a bustling rural town south of Auckland that services a large geographic area.

It is experiencing unprecedented growth, with the population projected to grow by 50,000 people in the next 20 years. Many locals need to travel outside Pukekohe for work, schooling and other reasons. This is not sustainable as the city continues to grow.

To ensure the town centre continues to be a productive service hub, regeneration is required. Panuku has been directed by Auckland Council to deliver urban regeneration in Pukekohe so that the town centre becomes competitive, safe, walkable and vibrant, with better access to employment, education and healthcare.

Maintaining a strong, proud, culturally rich and diverse community is also very important.

Panuku's strategic plan for Pukekohe, the High-Level Project Plan outlines how they will implement regeneration in the short, medium and long term.

Panuku has worked closely with the Franklin Local Board, mana whenua and the community to identify what will make a difference to the people who call this place home.
